The New Doctor Is In!!!

Since the announcement that Matt Smith would be stepping down as the Doctor after the 50th anniversary special, whovians have been chomping at the bit to know who the next Doctor will be but the wait is finally over! The 12th Doctor will be Peter Capaldi.

Capaldi already appeared in an episode of Doctor Who, “The Fires Of Pompeii”.

Oddly this is also the episode Keren Gillian appeared in before she was cast as Amelia Pond. Capaldi was also in World War Z, Torchwood and the upcoming film The Fifth Estate.

I personally think Capaldi is a good choice. He is a bit older then we have had in the new series but I think that’s what makes him so great. I have high hopes for Capaldi but only time will tell.

My Short List For The Next Doctor Who (Female Addition)

With Matt Smith exiting Doctor Who after the 50th anniversary special, there has been a lot of talk about who will be cast to replace him. I personally think its time for a female Doctor! So here is my list of the top 12 best actresses for the job. Moffat if you are out, there take a good hard look–it may save you a lot of effort. Now in no particular order:

1) Angel Coulby: Doctor Who has gotten a lot of heat lately for only casting white males. So obviously the solution is to cast a black female and who could be better then Angel Coulby from Merlin!

2) Lenora Crichlow: In that same vain, Lenora Crichlow would also be a good fit! She, like many on this list, already appeared in an episode of DW but hey so did Karen Gillian.

3) Maggie Smith: You know this would be awesome! Even though she is on the older side she is still badass and maybe her Doctor could teach the inhabitants of the universe a thing or two about manners.

4) Natalia Tena: She could have a different hair color each week! Wouldn’t that be fun?! Not to mention she looks like she could kick some series evil-alien ass.

5) Natalie Dormer: Ann Boleyn meets Margeary Tyrell would make one sneaky, and not to mention sexy, Doctor. You can’t tell me this is not a good idea.

6) Emma Watson: I don’t actually think Emma would make a good Doctor but I will literally watch ANYTHING she is in! Maybe she could just be the next companion. I would be ok with that as well.

7) Helena Bonham Carter: I am not sure if this would be awesome or awful but she definitely has the slightly insane yet secretly briliant thing down. Maybe Tim Burton could even come in to direct an episode, but Johnny Depp CANNOT be the companion.

8) Christina Cole: Techinically Christina Cole was already in an episode of DW (but what British actor or actress hasn’t) where she played a witch (oddly enough she also played a witch on Hex…). Anyways she is pretty and spunky and i would be interested to see what her Doctor would be like.

9) Catherine Tate: I know what you are going to say “Catherine Tate was a companion so how would that work?” I don’t know. But Catherine Tate is fiery and funny and I don’t think one season of DW was enough. Moffat is a genius I am sure he can come up with something clever to make this work.

10) Melissa George: I just really like her accent, it’s British but better! I would watch her as the Doctor just to listen to her talk.

11) Gemma Arterton: She may not be as well known as some of the other ladies on this list but Gemma Arterton is bad ass! She is no stranger to taking out supernatural bad guys and she always looks damn good doing it.

12) Bonnie Wright: The Doctor could finally be a ginger just like he has always wanted to be! Damn I wish my hair looked like that.
